Copper, a key component in electrical cables, is facing a surge in global demand. Over the past 25 years, consumption has more than doubled—reaching 30 million tonnes* in 2020—and is projected to grow to 40 million* by 2030. However, estimated production by then, around 33 million tonnes*, will fall short of meeting this demand.
In a world where copper is becoming scarce and electrification is accelerating, recycling is essential to prevent shortages and safeguard natural resources.

“When waste is transferred for preliminary treatment from the original producer [...] to one of the natural or legal persons [...], the responsibility for carrying out a complete recovery or disposal operation is not, as a general rule, removed.” (European Directive No. 2008/98/EC of 19/11/08 on waste).
Explanation: if, for example, you install cables in a building and some of them are not used, you then become a waste producer. In this case, even if you sell your surplus to a waste treatment company or an intermediary, you remain liable until you can prove that your waste has been recovered or disposed of.
